Nicaragua Ministry Recap:

We had an incredibly full month at Light & Salt ministries in Ciudad Dario, Nicaragua. BUT it was wonderful, especially because we were able to share this month with our entire squad! In total, there were 20 of us women linked up to serve together all month. Here’s a little glimpse of all we were up to this past month!

Team Bloom!

Our whole Squad (L Squad!)

Coming together as a whole Squad allowed us to pour out even more love and energy on this ministry. Upon arrival we were asked to divvy up for different areas of ministry. We found ourselves in teams for painting, teaching, and construction work. Others found themselves in individualized roles, one in the kitchen, one doing marketing, one spending quality time with our hosts’ daughter, Molly, and another in charge of the gate and the dogs of the ministry.

Light and Salt Ministries (LASM) has recently moved to its newly constructed and in progress location. This means there was plenty to do to help bring the ministry closer to completion.

Personally, I was placed in classroom ministry which I fell in love with! I worked with the Boys’ Reformation Program and was able to work directly with the boys of the ministry. As assistant teachers we helped give devotional lessons, play sports and chess, plan English classes and bring encouragement to the boys. In addition to all we did to assist physically, I was able to facilitate a fundraiser for supplies at the ministry. Through this fundraiser we were able to raise, $1,100 for the ministry! With these donations we purchased many needed kitchen and classroom items for the ministry. See photos below!

The painters were hard at work and were able to accomplish a lot of unfinished or unstarted painting projects. They were able to bless our ministry hosts by painting many of the rooms in their home. Additionally, at the ministry they were able to paint walls of the academic center as well as the kitchen and dining building. Lastly, they were able to paint the facility protective walls to create a bright and welcoming space for all who enter!

The construction team was able to prepare spaces for more building projects. The ministry would like to add more offices as well as a church! In addition to moving rocks, digging and preparing ground, they were able to spend some of their days weeding the facility grounds. When their project manager was unavailable, they also assisted with prep work and painting. These ladies were worker bees for the kingdom all month!

Those in specific roles made our hosts feel intentionally seen and uplifted through the work of their hands. Dana worked specifically with the dogs of the ministry, bathing them and giving them a little extra TLC. She also kept eyes on the ministry gates and greeted all who entered with a smile. When work was extra busy on the marketing end, she helped Claudia get the job done through editing videos. Claudia accomplished many marketing projects and was able to help share the stories of LASM. Morgan worked everyday in the kitchen with the ministry cooks. She helped lift some of the work from their hands through dish washing, cleaning, mopping, cutting veggies and much more. The relationships she was also able to cultivate with these women brought more joy and energy to the days they spent together. Sarah-Katherine was able to bless our hosts as Molly’s nanny for the month. In this role she helped Molly with school, played games with her, shared in devotionals and sweet conversations. It was evident the love she poured out on Molly and the light that was a bi-product of her tender love and care.

We were also able to host a women’s retreat through Beauty for Ashes with the focus of Identity in Christ for the women of the community!!!

My dear friends, supporters and family, I want to reiterate how treasuring it is to represent you and of course, Christ on this journey. Lives are being touched, encouraged and changed because of your financial giving, prayers and words of encouragement. Though the needs are many, blessings abound as we go forth and serve others. By the time you read this, we’ll have found our way to our next ministry in Medillian, Colombia. Here we will be working in a city based ministry location. I’ll update you all more on that later!

Lots & lots of love,

                  Sav & L Squad

  1. LOVE IT!! What a powerful group of women, all operating in so much strength. I love that you were able to use your many gifts in many different ministry outlets. What a blessing you were to Light & Salt!! 🙂

  2. I loved reading about each of the squad members’ roles on the link you included and getting to see the pictures. the 20 of you made an indellible mark on LASM ministries. Because of you all, their ministry will be even more effective and reflective of God’s love for mankind.
