Rwanda Ministry Recap

Wow! Rwanda has been six weeks of ministry packed full of fun, fellowship and faith-filled experiences. Coming to Rwanda, we knew our stay would be a little longer than normal for us WorldRacers. We usually spend 3-4 weeks in each location. However, Rwanda afforded us an opportunity to stay for six weeks! This has been such a blessing because we have really had the chance to feel as though we lived in the community we stayed in, instead of just being known as visitors. Every morning and every evening a group of the local kids would greet us at our homestead for a hug and to say good morning or good night to each one of us, what a special treat!

During our time in Rwanda we had the opportunity to engage in a number of different ministry opportunities with our hosts, Successful Christian Ministries. We worked with our hosts to gather content and create a ministry webpage! We also partnered with their churches and schools to minister to the local church body and children through preaching and teaching. Their schools serve as a preventative measure to keep the most at-risk youth on track to attend primary school by offering nursery school programming for children ages 2-6. The students are at school from 7-11am and we spent three days a week helping teach them English through songs and lessons. In their churches we spent multiple days a week preaching both in the pulpit and on Zoom/Youtube. We also were able to connect with other local kids and neighbors just by intentionally walking and visiting those we met throughout the community. We were even able to spend a few days doing home visits with local community members. At the start and end of each day, we found ourselves at home with our family. Here we spent many evenings singing songs and making memories with our three brothers, Manzi, Mucyo (Mucho), and Mugisha. We also spent time exploring the city and enjoying life in Kigali with them. It has truly been a blessing to be in one place for a little extra time, we certainly made good use of it!

My favorite ministry activity this month was preaching. I found myself really enjoying asking the Lord to speak through me and connecting to Him through the study of scripture. I spoke on a number of topics including: the love of God, the vows He promises, my favorite scripture (Psalm 139), and Proverbs 24:10-11. You can check out more about my sermons on my previous blogs and on YouTube! Here’s the link to my most recent church sermon, the Vows of the Lord.

We are headed from here to Romania where we will minister for the next few weeks. We are enroute to work with Hope Romania, a local church. Here, they are currently reaching out and serving many of the refugees flooding the nation from the Ukraine. If you’re interested in supporting the work we will be doing there, please check out their website or contact me directly!

Please continue to pray for health, safety and well-being for each one of us as we move to another new place. Though we only have a few months of our journey remaining, we are expectant that God still has great plans to use us and meet with us as we finish this Race. We will be switching up teams one final time before heading to Romania on April 24th.

Thank you for your prayers, your support and your faithfulness to walk alongside us throughout this journey. We love you, we appreciate you and we miss you! It is a treasure to represent you and of course, Christ on this journey. Lives are being touched, encouraged and changed because of your financial giving, prayers and words of encouragement. Though the needs are many, blessings abound as we go forth and serve others.

Lots and lots of love,
